Sediment Management in Water Resources Projects
Present work is an attempt to compile the state-of-art know how on various problems of sediment affecting water resource development with special focus on Indian projects, especially in Himalayas. Efforts have been made to refer and review the relevant up to date literature. Apart from some introductory chapters on soil erosion, properties of sediment, and sediment transport, etc., the book focuses on the mitigation measures, their layout and design concepts and guidelines and the field performance. The role and use of mathematical modelling in designing has also been discussed. Numerous relevant figures, useful design data, documentation of field experiences, and chapter-wise listing of references for further information add further to the value of the book. Dr. B.N. Asthana is Emeritus fellow at the Department of water Resources Development and Management, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India.
