This is a study of the life and art of the Chitrakaras of Odisha whose life revolves around Patta painting. It provides the historical and socio-cultural aspect of Chitrakara caste, duties of the Chitrakaras and their position in the Jagannath temple as well as the relation between patta painting art form and Lord Jagannath.
