Military Applications of Space: The Indian Perspective
This is a study of the relevance of space as a new domain towards enhancing war fighting capabilities. With a historical perspective of military applications of space, it takes up the association between use of space and advanced military capabilities, especially how the US used navigation and communication satellites in its war against Iraq (Gulf War I). It deals with militarisation and weaponisation of space by countries to gain asymmetric advantages, covering China’s resurgence in space. It especially studies the Chinese space programme and its military exploits. It discusses the existing and futuristic military exploits of space assets by India and proposes an Indian Space Security Architecture which shall secure Indian space assets and provide comprehensive national security to the country.
