Fundamentals of Herbal Medicine: Science of Nutrition, Human Anatomy and Body Systems
“I have never understood, why the human anatomy and complex body systems, at least at the fundamental level, were neither included nor compiled ever with any published work in herbal medicine? It is my strong conviction that without the basic knowledge of the human body, no system of medicine, including herbalism can accomplish the desired goals.
Whenever, I opted to buy a book on herbal medicine, I found nothing but the nomenclature of herbs, their medicinal uses or at the most, the list of compounds they contain. I began asking questions to myself, without knowing about the plants, the environments of their survival, pharmacognosy, biochemistry, biotechnology, thousands of useful compounds, basic needs of human body, dietetics, diseases, possible role of plants in treating of preventing diseases, enzymes, proteins, amino acids, their synthesis and analysis, human anatomy, body systems, metabolism, diagnostic processes and a host of other vital subjects, how I can gain knowledge or offer information to those who wish to study herbal medicine? And as a consequence of this thought, this book has been evolved in its present state.
I have tried my best to research and compile the contents in this book in such a way that the reader is able to know about the subject in its entirety and of course, this has been my sole objective too.”
