Schroots from The Netherlands presents age changes in an individual organisms as a system within the more general system of nature. J. Parizkova of Czech Republic persents old age in a perspective of development in youth period. Investigators from the U.S. discuss the role of key environmental factors in the aging process. A.T. Steegmann and S. Hewner present the significance of the role of climate and W. Stini describes the influence of nutrition. R. Shephard from Canada describe the influences of movement, and physical and professional activities on the processes of aging. S. Hewner reports on ethnic differences in aging processes. U. Wittwer-backofen of Germany describes the role of the society evaluated from the perspective of one's lifespan. In the next section D. Karasik, E. Kobyliansky and G. Livshits of Israel describe the processes of skeleton aging. In the final section demographic aspects of aging are reported by A. Drusini from Italy. From different viewpoints, this international group of scholars illuminate the process of aging; a process common to everyone, independent of their ethnic group, race, religion or social affiliations, aging is an inevitable process, which only may be delayed. Some of the chapters point to the key role environment plays and style of life. The last chapter presents a proposal for studies on ecology of aging, building on own existing data of A. Siniarska and N. Wolanski (Mexico and Poland). This chapter is an open invitation for international co-operation on data collected between 1959-1995.
