Asia in Transition
The essays deal with issues like pan-Asianism, reform movements across Asia, routes and roads, infrastructural development and technological advancement, leadership and legitimacy, governance and institutions and the rise of China. They examine the performance of Asia in various spheres and contrast the Asian experience: economic growth and emergence of India and China as economic giants on the one hand and struggling economies, poor infrastructure, unequal resource distribution, violence and intolerance on the other hand. The contributors take up globalisation's impact on Asia, Afghanistan's significance in the present era, the New Silk Road and connecting India to it, and the Middle East in the new century. With extensive notes , they deal with issues and programmes in countries such as development projects with reference to Ninja miners in Zaamar, Mongolia, development and green growth in Vietnam and evolution of education in Singapore.
